Help Line service

Stephanie Flower, a qualified Counsellor and trained Social Worker is one of the committee members and runs the Help line for the HSP/FSP Group. Stephanie has been running the helpline since 1989. She is always happy to speak to anyone with queries and advice or just a general chat.

She is often in contact with members for all sorts of reasons and collects a lot of experience of what others have gone through. This allows her to provide members with valuable insights and advice about particular situations.

Stephanie has described her contacts with people as follows:

“...I always find that people I talk to are so relieved when they can discuss their fears and problems with someone who understands the condition. When you are first diagnosed it can feel like you are the only one with FSP, and it helps when you find that you are not alone.

Although most people have similar symptoms, FSP is never quite the same in two people. In my family, four of us have FSP and it affects each of us differently. Some people have a lot of pain, whilst others don’t.

In addition to the calls I get from members and potential members, it is quite common for me to get calls from medical staff (Doctors, researchers, Physios etc.) who want to find out about the condition.”
